The topic of this workshop is ‘Self-Empathy’, the process of connecting non-judgmentally with one's own feelings and needs, and the (huge) contribution this makes when we attempt to practice Nonviolent Communication.
I will introduce exercises that can help us achieve self-connection and understanding of our own needs. We will look at ways the process can help even in real-time, and we will also see how it can help prepare us when difficult situations are coming up.
In offering this workshop, I am particularly thinking of those who have embraced the ideas of Nonviolent Communication but are having a lot of trouble practicing it. I made a huge step forward when I learned about self-empathy. I had not realized that I could sort out the powerful forces standing in the way of my practice. If I truly wanted to find strategies that worked for everyone, I needed to hear myself and acknowledge all of my own needs.
This workshop is intended for those who have had at least an NVC introduction -- that is, I would like to assume that participants have had some practice with the NVC model.
The workshop is in Baltimore, Sunday July 19. The time is 2:00 pm, for about 2 1/2 hours, and could possibly be changed to 1:00 pm.
The fee is sliding scale, what you can joyfully pay, $5 - $20.
