If so, consider participating in the new training program I am developing—“Learning NVC, Living Compassion”—available in the Metro DC area early next year.
The Learning NVC, Living Compassion Program is designed for people who are NVC beginners as well as for those who are familiar with NVC principles but would like support at turning these into a lived reality in their daily lives. We will meet for one weekend afternoon workshop each month for six months—learning and practicing basic NVC skills and becoming fluent in hearing and speaking what Marshall Rosenberg, NVC’s creator, calls “the language of the heart.”
Program activities will include presentations; full group, triad, and dyad exercises/games/processes; guided awareness practices, and individual journaling/drawing. We will be exploring compassionate communication through all of our senses and our processes will include active play as well as quiet internal work. This program will be fun as well as meaningful!
Between workshops, program participants will have weekly telephone partner sessions lasting 20 minutes or more to practice the skills just learned. Each month, telephone partners will be rotated so that by the end of the program participants will have connected with at least five people with whom they may choose to continue their practice.
The program will begin in March and run through August, 2011. Those interested in participating in it will indicate their availability for each workshop through an online Doodle Poll survey. A link to the survey will be sent to each person who contacts me. I hope everyone will be able to attend each workshop, however, this will not be required.
To keep costs low, I will be offering this program in my home, which means enrollment will be limited to a maximum of 14 people, due to space constraints. A minimum of 10 participants will be needed to hold the program. To ensure diversity, I plan to accept applications until mid January and hope to announce those who will be part of the program by the end of that month. At that time, a deposit of half the minimum tuition will be requested to hold space in the program.
